Now the New York State Thruway closes for blizzards, vehicular accidents and other catastrophic events, but not for rock concerts. So imagine my astonishment when Dom called to inform me the Thruway was indeed closed. Traffic was backed up for miles and miles around the concert site. People were abandoning their vehicles and trudging 20 or 30 miles on foot just to get near the concert gates, he told me. Dom was now bailing out of our plans to go. I reluctantly agreed. We had no choice. What a bummer man! Looks like it's zero days of Peace, Love and Music for us.

Thinking that when he returned I would hear a first hand report from Gilles gloating about what a fantastic time he had, so I purposely paid little attention to the reports now being broadcast across the national media about what a truly epic event this concert had
become. It was already one for the history books. And this was only Sunday.

Ahh…Monday, my day off. What a blessed moment! A real 'turn down day'. I
spent the first part of my absent from workday, just relaxing and wondering
when I was going to hear from Gilles. It really must have been an amazing
concert, I thought, I wonder if the New York State Thruway is open for
business yet? Gee, what the heck did I miss? It must have been something
more than just a music festival, I thought. I over heard someone say that
the gates had come down and it turned into a free concert. Did I hear
that babies were born, people overdosed on acid, supplies air lifted in,
and a total peace and love nation of over a million...
