gathering mail, picking up this, dropping off that, emptying waste baskets, moving furniture and anything else the secretaries could think of, I did not feel confident and secure in my lowly position. If they fire me, I'll end up starving, I thought. I'll have to pan handle on Elmwood Avenue for food money. Or worst yet; move back home with the parents. Oh well…here goes nothing.

'I'm going to a 3 day rock concert somewhere near Albany, and I won't be back in time to come to work on Monday' I informed the Personal Department lady. Incredibly, she had no problem with that and wished me a safe and fun trip. Whew! That wasn't all that difficult I thought. It's a good thing to be honest and direct about your plans, I guess. Now about
those plans…

As the weekend of the concert approached my roommate Gilles Dionne, set off
with a few friends in a hippie van. I would wait until Saturday morning to leave
with Dom Cedro in the relative luxury of his pale yellow Corvair, thinking we
would catch most of the concert by arriving early Saturday afternoon.
Now it is the Saturday morning of the big concert and the event is well under
way. I am waiting by the door for Dom to pull up in his trusty Corvair along
with his sleeping bag, acoustic guitar, and provisions, ready to catch two
days of peace, love and music. Better make that one and a half days of
peace love and music. We'd still get to see Jimi Hendrix, Crosby, Stills,
and Nash, and a ton of other great groups! We're still good to go!
